Construction to begin on
Li Shu Wen's Monument
Wutan supporters to be listed
Disciples and students of Wutan worldwide have contributed money to support the construction of a monument together with the relocation and renovation of Great Grand Master Li Su Wen's tomb now located in Nanpi China. Construction on this monument is slated to begin on April 22, 2011.
Great Grand Master Li Shu Wen(`1864-1934) was Grand Master Liu Yun Chiao's major teacher. One of the best known martial artists in China at the turn of the century, Li Shu Wen came to live with Grand Master Liu when he was a young boy of 10.
He taught Grandmaster Liu Baji, Piqua and Long Spear. When Grand Master Liu was in his late teens, Li Shu Wen arranged for Grand Master Liu to learn from many of the top martial artists then in China. In some cases, Great Grand Master Li would then build on the material that Grand Master Liu had learned.
Li Shu Wen died in 1934 at the age of 70. His remains eill remain in his home town of Nanpi (Hebei province) China. Through the efforts of Grand Master Su Yu Chang as well as Masters and students of Taiwan Wu-tan, arrangements have been made to relocate The Great Master's remains to a better location and work is about to begin on the construction of a better and more fitting memorial for this man who has provided so much of the Wutan legacy.
Part of the plans for Li Shu Wen's monument include the listing of all disciples and students who have made contributions to this effort on a commenorative plaque.
